Founder's Message
Two Decades of Shaping
Nepal's Tourism Professionals
It has been my lifelong conviction that tourism is Nepal's most powerful engine of growth — not simply for revenue, but for dignity, cultural exchange, and community upliftment. When I founded the Kathmandu Academy of Tourism and Hospitality in 2002, I carried with me over three decades of industry experience — from the reservation counters of Royal Nepal Airlines to international development projects with the ILO and UNDP in Bali, Indonesia.
I have watched Nepal's tourism landscape transform profoundly across six decades. I have seen how the quality of human capital— trained, confident, and ethical professionals — determines whether we truly harness this nation's extraordinary potential. KATH was built on that belief: that every student who walks through our doors deserves not just a certificate, but a calling.
Our curriculum has been shaped by real industry practice, not theory alone. Having served on the Academic Council of Purbanchal University, chaired the Hotel Management & Travel/Tourism Subject Committee under HSEB Nepal, and contributed to national tourism policy as a member of the Ministry of Tourism's task force, I have ensured that KATH graduates are equipped for the realities of a competitive, rapidly evolving global industry.
It is deeply humbling to have received recognition from Nepal's highest offices — from former Vice-President Parmanand Jha to the honourable Education Minister — for contributions to tourism education and social development. These honours belong equally to every student, colleague, and institution partner who has been part of the KATH journey.
As I look ahead, my aspiration remains unchanged: that KATH will continue producing graduates who represent Nepal with excellence, integrity, and warmth — ambassadors of a country whose hospitality is as magnificent as its mountains. You are most warmly welcome to join us.
